Garmin have packed the Aera 500 avitation GPS full of exciting new features, and it is now all driven with an intuitive touchscreen interface!

The sensitive internal GPS will also update the screen 5 times per second (5hz) to ensure smoother updates on the panel page.

The Garmin Aera 500 avitation GPS makes the transition from driving to flying easy - with an icon-driven, touch screen interface, you could even call it a magic carpet GPS. Featuring a 4.3 inch widescreen, and single cable solution for power and music. For aviation, the Aera 500 combines colourful detailed topography, with built-in terrain (30 arc-second terrain resolution) and obstacles alerting, plus IFR map mode with airways.

In the car, the Aera will boot into a different user interface, similar to that used on Garmin's leading Nuvi series. The Aera 500 is supplied with detailed street mapping of Australia and New Zealand, and will speak street names for hassle free navigation in the car.

The removeable li-ion battery will last for up to 5 hours. You can save up to 50 flight plans, with 300 points in each. Automatic flight log, with at least 30 most-recent flights. Auto time zone while navigating. Fully waterproof to IPX7 standards, with Bluetooth handsfree calling in automotive mode.

The Aera 500 is supplied with a yoke mount, automotive friction mount, vehicle power cable, battery, USB cable, pilot's guide and quick start manual.
