GPSMAP76 series - a classic from Garmin.
This new refreshed model now supports a crisp, colour screen (which supports BirdsEye aerial imagery, and Custom Maps), high sensitivity receiver, and new moulded rubber grips. The
GPSMAP 78 is waterproof and will even float, so there's no worries of losing your GPS when out on the water.
To add detailed street, topographic or marine mapping to the
GPSMAP 78, there's a large 1.7 GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD card slot. There's also a dedicated "Man Overboard" button for quick and easy access in case of an incident.
Up to 20 hours battery life from two readily available AA batteries. USB and NMEA 0183 compatible.
Now stores 2000 waypoints, 200 routes, and has a 10,000 point active track log, with 200 saved tracks. The
GPSMAP 78 also features audible alarms for anchor drag, approach and arrival, off-course, proximity waypoint, shallow water and deep water.
Paperless geocaching is supported, and you can even navigate to geotagged photos.
And yes, it still floats and
calculates areas! This is useful for farming and other rural and marine applications. Area measurement is simple and fast. Just walk, drive or ride around the perimeter to be measured, press a button, and there you have it. A really productive feature for farmers, botanists, agronomists, graziers, oyster and fish culture, salt-works... etc etc. For farming, agriculture, agronomy, aquaculture and related endeavours, the
GPSMAP 78 measures distances and directions between points, and area measurements.
Purchasers of GPSMAP 78 series, who ask for this feature, will be supplied with full instructions. In addition, a phone support package is available. All part of the service from
