This unit features a built-in quad helix antenna for superior reception.

The GPSMAP 76 has a built-in basemap of cities, coastlines, lakes, rivers, highways and connecting roads, and a database of nautical navaids. An additional internal memory capacity of 8 megabytes is for storing optional MapSource - detailed maps, and Blue Chart marine cartography. This memory can be overwritten again and again, depending on the uses for your GPSMAP76. It comes preloaded from the factory with worldwide cities (populations greater than 200,000) and nautical navigation aids such as lights, buoys, sound signals and day beacons.

The GPSMAP76 can be supplied with a variety of bracket options, and 12v and PC cables separately, or combined. When used outside of the vehicle or boat, the GPSMAP76 simply unclips, and will use the internal 2 AA cells for up to 16 hours.

The proven performance of 12 parallel channels, allied to better power management, no-battery memory, and casing technolgy, means the GPSMAP76 comes up with the goods for many users. It will store up to 1000 user waypoints with graphic icons. As well, GARMIN's exclusive TracBack feature can log a trail automatically for up to 5 days (10,000 points), Reverse the log and you can navigate your way back home. It is also used to calculate the area of the track, making it very useful for farming, aquaculture, botanical and other pursuits.
