Oregon 450 conveniently runs on 2 x AA batteries (up to 16hrs) so you can be sure to have power when you need it.
The
Oregon 450 comes with a built-in DEM (digital elevation model) basemap, which supports terrain shading and route elevation profiles, to help you visualise terrain difficulty. You can add additional
Topographic mapping for an even more comprehensive look of your surrounding area. With extra mapping loaded, you can search for points of interest by name or proximity to your location and view descriptive details for terrain contours, topo elevations, summits and geographical points.
You can also add marine mapping, for whatever adventure you want to take your
Oregon 450 on! It's fully waterproof and rugged enough to withstand bumps, dust, dirt, humidity and water. You can also wirelessly share your waypoints, routes and geocaches with other Oregon users. All at the touch of a button!
With the built in 3-axis tilt-compensated compass, you can report an accurate heading even when the unit is not held level. The barometric altimeter displays bearing information and precise altitude information. Even while standing still. You can even plot barometric pressure over time to keep track of changing weather conditions. Measure elevations, to an accuracy of a few metres, and decide on heads of water. Envisage property land form, or dam design, with the elevation profile on any track. For recreation or aviation, work out rates of climb and descent, and read the elevation history profile.
The high-sensitivity GPS receiver features HotFix™. HotFix™ satellite prediction helps find your position quickly and precisely while the high-sensitivity GPS maintains its signal even in heavy cover and deep canyons. The
Oregon 450 supports paperless geocaching - it stores and displays key information, including location, terrain, difficulty, hints and descriptions, which means no more manually entering cache coordinates and paper print outs! Simply upload the GPX file to your unit and start hunting for caches.

Oregon 450 displays 3-D elevation perspective and can also display
Garmin Custom Maps. Garmin Custom Maps is a free and simple process that transforms paper and electronic maps into downloadable maps for your compatible Garmin GPS.
