The Garmin Oregon 550 rugged handheld GPS features an integrated 3.2 megapixel auto-focus digital camera with automatic geotagging and 4x zoom. Automatic geotagging tags each photo with the location where it was taken, allowing you to mark, remember and navigate back to the exact spot in the future. Take photos in either landscape or portrait orientation. By connecting your Oregon 550 to your computer and logging into your myGarmin account, you can easily select, upload and store photos on Picasa™. Share your photos with friends and family, online.

The 3-axis tilt-compensated electronic compass allows the Oregon 550 to report an accurate heading even when the unit is not held in a level position. Also included is a barometric altimeter, which tracks changes in pressure to pinpoint your precise altitude. You can even use it to plot barometric pressure over time, which can help you keep an eye on changing weather conditions. Measure elevations, to an accuracy of a few metres, and decide on heads of water. Envisage property land form, or dam design, with the elevation profile on any track. For recreation or aviation, work out rates of climb and descent, and read the elevation history profile. The Oregon 550 has area measurement functions, making it equally useful for farmers, loss adjusters, land-owners, agricultural consultants, and aquaculturalists. Area measurement is simple and fast. The Oregon 550 features a built-in basemap with DEM (digital elevation model) data, which supports terrain shading and route elevation profiles to help you estimate terrain difficulty. Add optional topographic or street maps via the microSD card slot, to give you even greater detail. It also includes a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix™ satellite prediction helps locate your position quickly and precisely while maintaining its signal even in heavy cover and deep canyons. The Garmin Oregon 550 also includes Garmin's TracBack Feature, which allows you to retrace your path back to where you started.

With the Oregon 550, you can wirelessly share routes, tracks, waypoints and geocaches between compatible units. It's waterproof & durable, so you can take on any expedition. The 3" diagonal, sunlight-readable, colour touchscreen features an easy to use interface.
