The large screen is perfect for viewing a three-dimensional map perspective, or 2D overhead view. You can even connect your Nuvi 5000 to a back-up camera for added safety (accepts composite video input using the optional accessory cable).
Comes preloaded with new, City Navigator NT Australia and New Zealand 2010 mapping.
The
Nuvi 5000 speaks street names; announcing "Turn right on Evans Road", it can plan your route and automatically arrange destinations to minimise trip distance - invaluable for sales people or to simply run errands in the most efficient manner.
You can make the most of your car stereo with the integrated FM wireless transmitter - listen to voice instructions, or load up your Nuvi with MP3's and listen through your own car stereo speakers. Or, if you'd prefer, simply listen through the two large speakers in the back of the unit.
Get a better perspective of your trip with the digital elevation maps showing you shaded terrain contours at specific zoom levels. Create an electronic breadcrumb trail of up to 10,000 points to see where you've been. Trip computer also records kilometres, max speed, total time and more.
You can even choose to avoid select roads and areas, configure your vehicle icon, set up proximity alerts for school zones and safety cameras, create custom Points Of Interest, and view speed limits for highways and interstates. You can ask your Nuvi 5000 "
Where Am I?" and find the closest hospitals, police stations, nearest address, nearest intersection and your exact latitude and longitude coordinates.
The
Nuvi 5000 features a high sensitivity GPS receiver - to provide fast lock-on to GPS, and maintain signal in tall timber and near city skyscrapers.
