The
GPSMAP 555 GPS chartplotter, or the
555S combined GPS and sounder, boast bright, sharp colorful graphics on a 5-inch screen. The high resolution VGA screen, displays preloaded detailed marine charts for Australia. Garmin's simple menus, and straightforward button functionsa are legendary. You can add the optional BlueChart® g2 Vision SD card for even more enhanced features.
Another version,
GPSMAP 555s, comes with a powerful digital sounder (up to 1 kW) with a dual frequency transducer.
Garmin's new chart plotters are pre-loaded with marine chart detail for all of Australia's and New Zealand's coastline. This equates to over $700 worth of Garmin Bluechart marine mapping, so there is no need to fiddle with data-cards or computers. Chart detail includes underwater contours and soundings, bottom structure, wrecks, shoals, beacons, buoys, lead lights, marina entrances, tidal zones, and tide calculations.
The
GPSMAP 555 series features an ultra-bright 127mm VGA display with twice the pixel count of the standard 550 series; built-in, satellite-enhanced worldwide basemap and simplified user operation.

GPSMAP 555 simplifies navigation for experienced and newer mariners.
With the optional BlueChart g2 Vision SD card, you can add a whole new dimension of exceptional features to your chartplotter. 3D mariner’s eye view or fish eye view provides you with a 3-dimensional perspective of map information, both above the waterline and below it. High-resolution satellite images and aerial photographs help you orient yourself in unfamiliar areas. Auto Guidance technology searches through all relevant charts to create a route you can actually follow - one that avoids obstacles, shallow water, buoys and other obstructions.
The
GPSMAP 555 series come with a multi-angle mounting system with stainless steel shaft and mounting screw. A cover is provided for the screen on both models, when not in use. You can save 1,500 waypoints (with auto date and time), and you can store 20 color coded track files. These can be saved from a track log up to 5 days in length (10,000 points). It is easy to create permanently stored routes on-screen, from recorded tracks.
The SD card slot is not designed to read any other Garmin Mapsource mapping, including Bluechart for other areas in the Pacific, or City Navigator.
