The GPSMAP 3006 $2399 - in colour.  State of the Art Graphics

The 3006 series of GPS from Garmin, are state of the art navigation instruments with unique features to satisfy the most demanding blue water user. Exceptional resolution and extremely fast redraw and response time. Designed for use above deck or at the navstation, these chartplotters are waterproof and easy to read, even in sunlight.

These multifunction displays (MFDs) are powered by a high-speed processor and graphics controller for fast redraw of charts. Boaters can connect a GPS antenna and one remote sensor directly to the MFD.
Garmin offers the GDL 30A—which provides a unique audio-channel interface on the 3010C and 3006C that allows for connection to an on-board stereo.

GPSMAP 3000 series products receive sonar data through the GSD 20, a proprietary "black box" sounder which offers 4,000 watts of peak-to-peak power (500 watts RMS) in a dual-frequency transducer.

  • With optional charts for your area (Blue Charts), displayed as you go, and up to 3000 of your own waypoints shown on the same screen, this unit is a true mariner's aid. The cartography includes detailed depth contours, inter-tidal zones, spot soundings, wrecks, navaids, port plans, restricted areas, cable areas, anchorages and much more. In canal estates and coastal towns, the optional street level information from GARMIN's MapSource City Navigator CD-ROM could be very useful.
  • DGPS system for accuracies of 2-3 metres or less
  • Blue Charts for Marine use
  • Land mapping memory card options

Unique features include:
Large computer-like flat panel display screen
No limitations on antenna distance from panel
Add optional sounder module for a complete depth/position system
Can use both street and marine mapping (useful in canal estates)

The Map 3006C contains base mapping of major and connecting roads, rivers, railways, towns etc. Load marine "Blue charts", or detailed street mapping* so the GPS becomes a work or touring companion, as well as a recreation companion.

Garmin "Blue Charts" bring new clarity, relevance, and accuracy to marine navigation. Along with favorite features such as a track-up or north-up display, 'point and shoot' waypoint and route creation, you also have memory for 3000 points, plus 50 routes, each with 50 points or map nodes. Exclusive TracBack feature of 5000 points or about 15 hours of continuous data (with 20 saved track files), allows you to retrace any passage with no mistakes.

The 12 channel engine on the GPSMAP 3000 series is not contained in the panel. The combined GPS antenna module is connected to the panel by power and data wiring. There is virtually no limit on the distance you may require between the panel and the antenna placement- unlike standard coax cable antennas. 12 channel GPS means you will pick up all available satellites- primary safety at its best.

The GPSMAP 3000 series come complete with robust swivelling surface mount brackets, antenna with power/data lead, and worldwide background land cartography. Both GPS have audible alarms to suit any application.

The Garmin GPSMAP 3006C has a 160mm colour screen, with non-reflective glass and backlighting. Pixel count is 640 x 480. The screen is brilliant in sunlight, and for use with sunglasses.

The Garmin GPSMAP 3010C has been superceded by the GPSMAP 4012.
