The latest GPS have log-book compatible features, to make flight reporting even easier. The units are sold with a free upgrade of the Jeppesen database (within 90 days of purchase). All aviation handhelds can be used in conjunction with Garmin Mapsource digital mapping which allows the GPS user to plan and create points and routes on a computer, using the detailed map background. Then simply load those points in to the Garmin GPS unit. After a flight, points and tracks can also be downloaded from the GPS to the computer for storage, or editing.
