The marine-use GPSMAP 3005C supplies a large screen and the famously simple Garmin page sequences. Pages can be set up with extra large numbers (speed, directions etc.) for easy viewing. The 3005C can also make a Garmin on-boat network quite economic. If you want to connect radar, autopilot, sounder or another screen, this can be it. With its lower price and smaller footprint, the 3005C is ideal for any boating professional or recreational user, who wants position, chart, radar or sounder information on the one screen. The GPSMAP 3005C also works well as a secondary unit for a boat already rigged with the Garmin Marine Network.

The waterproof GPSMAP 3005C features a 640 x 480 pixel 125 mm (diagonal) VGA (computer-like) screen, and sunlight readable display (even with sunglasses on). Your water navigation and safety can be improved for a very reasonable sum of money.

Garmin part number: 010-00402-00

Garmin's new chart plotter incorporates the latest sunlight readable display, and superior chart drawing speeds.

This makes planning and saving a route on screen very easy. Deciding which channel to take is no longer an onerous task - information is there to help you. The simple sequence of pages gives you map, compass, selected destination, time of arrival and other information you can choose. With our help at Johnny Appleseed GPS, you can be using the 3005C productively in a very short space of time.

The GPSMAP 3005C has the advantage of using the proprietry Garmin memory cards, so it is completely compatible with your Bluechart map cartridges.

(Note- WAAS does not work in Australia)

To offer the greatest value in a compact size, the GPSMAP 3005C differs from the larger GPSMAP 3006C and GPSMAP 3010C in the following ways:

3 serial ports (1 dedicated to the GPS 17 intelligent antenna, 2 configurable), compared to 4 for the GPSMAP 3006C and GPSMAP 3010C.
Single, front-loading card slot vs 2 slots on the GPSMAP 3006C and GPSMAP 3010C.
The following features are not supported in the 3005: VGA output, video input, audio out, alpha numeric keypad, and IR remote.

Connect other information devices: Like other multifunction displays (MFDs) within the Garmin Marine Network, the GPSMAP 3005C is compatible with BlueChart® marine cartography. Serial wiring allows for connection of a GPS antenna (supplied standard), and two other serial sensors (such as an existing sounder, for depth and water temperature, or autopilot).

The GPSMAP 3005C can also communicate with network devices via a 100-megabit Garmin proprietary network. One device, such as the Garmin radar, or another 3005C display unit, can be direct connected. For boaters wanting dual-frequency sonar capabilities, the GPSMAP 3005C can be connected to Garmin’s GSD 20 “black box” sounder, which offers 4,000 watts of peak-to-peak power (500 watts RMS). If more than 2 network sensors are to be connected, a network expander is required (see the GMS10). Once it is connected, the 3005C automatically detects any and all peripherals, automatically sharing information like waypoints, routes, tracks, and cartography.

You can save or load 4,000 waypoints (with auto date and time). You can backtrack on any track files. These can be saved from a track log up to 5 days in length (10,000 points).

The GPSMAP 3005C comes with a U tilt mounting system. A cover is provided for the screen when not in use.

You can plan up to 50 routes on screen, using the point and click facility. Save and name any route for later identification and retrieval. Each route can hold up to 300 waypoints, or chart entity. If you purchase a Mapsource Bluechart CD, you can do the same thing on computer, then load to the memory card. A marine data management kit is available to assist you in these tasks.
