Handheld GPS combined with 40 Channel Compact UHF Transceiver
RADIO INTERGRATION NAVIGATION OUTDOORS - spells RINO - No matter where you go outdoors, the Rino 520 can keep you on track and in touch. The Rino 520 is configured with the 477Mhz CB band, which is the legal frequency for use in Australia.
This rugged, two-way radio with GPS packs a bold color display, 20 km communication range, and turn-by-turn directions. It is waterproof, so you can use it in all weather for horseriding, mountain biking, bush walking, climbing, hang-gliding and other sports.
The Rino is perfect for agricultural work, because it is capable of measuring distances and areas, as well as mapping functions for weed control, fence and pipeline planning, and dam placement. Keep in touch with home, by radio using the UHF function.
The position-reporting capability makes this unit quite special. You can exchange position data with another Rino user, by radio, and see their location on the map screen. You may send and receive GPS positions with any number of Rino users in your group. One call to your partner's Rino, and your location shows up on the map page. You can even poll another Rino user's location in emergency situations.
Garmin Mapsource mapping (Bluechart marine, or City Navigator in-car navigation) is compatible with the Rino 520.
Features of the 520 include:
Typical GPS functions such as bread-crumb trail and back-track, go-to, distance and direction to go, distance and area measurement, route calculation (using optional maps), geo-caching, and trip computing.
Whopping 5 watts of transmit power on any one of 40 selectable UHF CB channels, means you can now call for help from 20km away.
Bold color TFT display makes it easy to see and navigate to family or friends with Rinos at an amusement park, lake, or other outdoor group activity The Rino 520 has 56MB of internal memory, and can use the Garmin Bluechart® mapping for marine use, and Garmin’s MapSource® City Navigator® mapping for street by street route calculation anywhere in Australia, including most outback trafficable roads. (Not all of Australia will fit on 56MB - please ask at time of purchase). This mapping is available on CD for loading from computer to the Rino. Automatic route generation includes off-route recalculation, turn-by-turn directions with alert tones, and icon-driven menus for finding points of interest, such as petrol stations, ATMs, Police Stations, Post Offices, shopping centres etc.
The Rino 520 has a mini USB port, and 56 megabytes of internal memory, for rapid download and lots of map storage of Garmin’s entire line of outdoor cartography. Rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 16 hours of outdoor use.
The Rino 520 comes with a basemap of Australia, Asia and western Pacific areas. Additional mapping can be supplied, including GPS Topo PLUS Australia 5 mapping, or City Navigator Australia.
