Camo- short for Camooweal! Not far
from Walkabout Creek - Crocodile Dundee country. $227,
or $246 with window style carry
case.Made for the outback! (Garmin
probably reckon it is short for camouflage, but we know better.)

The Garmin eTrex has been an extraordinary
success, in Australia, because of its no-nonsense GPS features.
It does everything that people require of a hand-held GPS. Now
the eTrex Camo adds to those features with a new camouflage casing,
and hunting and fishing calendar. The camouflage pattern appears
to be unique to each unit. A GPS I can recommend for boating,
personal trekking, scouting, and any outdoor pursuit where size
matters.
It takes the best features of a 12 parallel
channel GPS receiver and put them into a package that is only
100mm high and 50mm wide. The result is a unit that will literally
fit in the palm of your hand.
Major features:
1. Fishing-hunting calculator appears to operate on the principles
of moon, sun, season and location. Phases of the moon are shown
separately.
2. Track file stores 2000 points, and IN ADDITION, can store 10 track
files with hundreds of points in each (up to 60 times the number in
a GPS12 track file)
3. There are three separate memory areas on the eTrex Camo - all are
backed up by a flash device that requires no power or charging. (So
there are no back-up battery problems). There is the 500 waypoint memory-
then the live track or track log memory (2000 points) - then the 10
separate track files memory.
4. 2 AA batteries run for over 20 hours.
5. Course deviation shows on the map page, instead of highway page
in the GPS12 and other models.
Free firmware upgrades
for my customers. Just call at, or send unit to my shop. If you
did not purchase your GPS at Johnny Appleseed GPS, the charge
for firmware upgrade is $26.40.
Notice the sleek design of the eTrex
Camo. All buttons are located on either side of the unit, allowing
for simple, one-handed operation that won't obstruct your view
of the display. In fact, the eTrex features only five operator
buttons for the ultimate in user-friendly design. The eTrex
Camo is completely waterproof so it can take an accidental
splash or dunk in the water. As well as being able to set Australian
datums and formats, there are 30 user-configurable icons to
help describe each waypoint you store (up to 500).
Inside
the eTrex camo, you will find the proven performance of a
12 parallel channel GPS receiver
that will run for 20 hours on just two AA batteries. No need
to worry about dense tree canopy with this unit, the eTrex
will continue to maintain a tight satellite lock even while
operating in forest-like conditions. The eTrex will store up
to 500 user waypoints with graphic icons. GARMIN's exclusive
TracBack feature that will reverse your track log and
help you navigate your way back home (2000 points plus 10 separate
track files). In addition, the eTrex uses graphic symbols that
will help you identify your marked waypoints quickly and easily.
