Garmin
GPS MAP176 and 176C Models Specifications
For marine use, the Garmin MAP176 series can be supplied with one
of the Garmin Mapsource Blue Charts for
the area in which you sail. This can be either a pre-loaded memory
card, or a CD ROM for computer with a blank memory card to load the
charts.
In addition, the Garmin
GPS176 and 176C comes with western Pacific, Australia and NZ mapping
already loaded in
base memory. This shows
railways, rivers, lakes, creeks, roads (major and secondary) with highway
numbers, towns, and larger rural properties by name. The mapping is
comprehensive for all of Australia's traditional road systems. Recently
built major road systems may not be included. I call it "comfort
level mapping" because you can see at a glance where you are,
and how far to a town or point.
Garmin GPSMAP76 series, GPS60C (color) series, StreetPilot 2610 (color), GPSMAP176 (4 level grey) amd GPSMAP176C (colour), can also use street level detail for Australia. This mapping is supplied by Garmin under licence from the Australian company Whereis Navigation. The product currently available: Garmin Mapsource City Navigator Australia. The StreetPilot and the GPS176 series, are equipped with a cartridge slot for data cards with the upgraded mapping. Upgraded mapping can be sourced only from Garmin or Garmin dealers in Australia.
Include me on the list to receive updates about the new street mapping.
