The Garmin GPSMAP182 series features quick map redraws using a high speed RISC processor. Detailed marine cartography is presented on a high resolution (240 x 360 pixels), 10-level grayscale or 16 colour TFT, liquid crystal display, with non-reflective glass. Both the GPSMAP182 and 188, and 182C and 188C colour, have brilliant clarity in sunlight, even with polarizing sunglasses.

The GPSMAP182 series comes complete with a surface (and flush mounting adaption) mount bracket, remote antenna with 7 metres of coax cable, and worldwide back-ground land cartography.

With flexible mapping systems (both land and sea ), the new improved GPSMAP182 and MAP182C (colour) offers larger screen navigation for in-shore and blue water.

Switch between "land" and "water" modes, so that screen contrast suits your environment. Tidal charts are now a feature of all Australian/Pacific Bluechart mapping (as shown on the colour screen at left).

Each GPS contains base mapping of major and connecting roads, rivers, railways, towns etc. Load marine "Blue charts", or even detailed street mapping so the GPS can guide you through developed canal areas.

Garmin "Blue Charts" bring new clarity, relevance, and accuracy to marine navigation. Along with favorite features such as a track-up or north-up display, 'point and shoot' waypoint and route creation, you also have memory for 3000 points and 50 routes, each with 50 points. Exclusive TracBack feature of 2500 points (with 15 saved track files), allows you to retrace any passage with no mistakes. Bluecharts now include tidal data for predictions at any location. Has audible alarms for anchor drag, danger points, and destination. Can be wired with radar and auto-pilot devices.

The 12 channel engine on the GPSMAP182 series, means you will pick up all available satellites- primary safety at its best.

With optional charts for your area (Blue Charts), displayed as you go, and up to 3000 of your own waypoints shown on the same screen, this unit is a true mariner's aid. The cartography includes detailed depth contours, inter-tidal zones, spot soundings, wrecks, navaids, port plans, restricted areas, cable areas, anchorages and much more. To show streets in canal estates, the GPSMAP182 or 182C can accept downloadable information from GARMIN's City Navigator CD-ROM.

Specifications for Garmin GPSMAP182 and 188 (grey scale) and MAP182C and 188C (colour)

The GPSMAP 182/188 and 182C/188C feature crisp, high-resolution displays and high-speed processors, which allow for an extremely fast redraw rate. These chartplotters have a built-in WAAS receiver, which means they can pinpoint your location and other map features within three meters, on average (only in North America). The GPSMAP 182/188 and 182C/188C's built-in worldwide basemap provides coastline detail, U.S. tide data, and inland cartography. The detail gets even better when you plug in an optional data card with GARMIN's exclusive BlueChart™ marine cartography or detailed maps from the MapSource product line. Like all GARMIN marine products, these units are tough enough to stand up to saltwater, sunlight, and other elements.

The GPSMAP 182C and 188C offer daylight-viewable color instead of the monochrome display of the GPSMAP 182 and 188.
