In-Car Navigation - StreetPilot III

Sorry, there are no more in Australia. Please check the later StreetPilot 2610.

Garmin StreetPilot3

 * Australian Street Mapping

 * Voice Guidance

 * Route calculation on "really" smart mapping

Have a look at the StreetPilot III actually set up in a motor car. If you purchased a BMW or Ducati motorbike with the StreetPilot III , you may like the option of using it in your motor car. Check for the accessories to do this, and leave the navigating to us.

This In-Car device is completely portable - move it from vehicle to vehicle - no installation - no in-vehicle CD roms.

It automatically starts on a map page, which shows your position as a triangle, and the road you are on, and other roads around you. Key in or pick a destination (number, street, suburb) from a list, and the StreetPilot3 will calculate the route for you, either quickest or shortest. The selected route shows as a wide bright line, and the voice will now prompt you to move in the direction of the route. As your vehicle moves, the triangle stays in the middle of the GPS screen, but the whole map moves underneath you. Everything on the map is to scale, just like a street directory.

Travelling overseas? - may we suggest street mapping for Europe, South Africa, and USA. Phone and get a package deal.

Create a route and then put your mind on cruise as you follow clear, accurate, voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions to safely reach your destination.

The simple, intuitive menus of the Street Pilot III offer access to the shortest and fastest routes, directions, and estimated arrival time of your intended destination. Automated voice prompts alert you to upcoming turns, course deviation, and distance to final destination. Restaurants, shopping centres, railway stations, public cultural and sports venues, (withtheir phone numbers to make life easier), are all included in the database, and can be accessed by the Find function.

'Whereis' have done a fantastic job on the Garmin Mapsource City Navigator mapping for Australia (pre-loaded in the Street Pilot3). It features really powerful database functions , which make the StreetPilot a productive and time-saving driving and navigation tool. Such as:

Does the StreetPilot3 GPS require any installation?

Absolutely not. The StreetPilot3 comes in a tilting bracket, with a non-skid weighted mat type car mount, which sits on, the dashboard, and will not move, so long as the dashboard is reasonably flat. A cable for 12 volt cigar lighter socket, with an in-line speaker, is supplied. The GPS and bracket can easily unclip from the non-skid bag. The GPS can also unclip from the mount bracket, to use as a hand-held. The bracket can be independently mounted through four screw holes, or you can clip it in to a small oval base mount, which is also supplied. The oval base mount can be independently mounted using supplied adhesive pads.

If you would like to place the StreetPilot3 elsewhere in the vehicle, you can get an external aerial, which plugs in the back of the GPS, with a cord which runs up through the door rubber, and a magnetic pad for the car roof. Or you can have it suction cupped on the inside of the windscreen, where it does not have to be removed every time you leave the car.
