2007, the availability of Maptrax products is strictly limited, due
to retirement of the owners. Please ask when ordering
MAPTRAX
digital maps- Suit Fugawi, Oziexplorer,
and Arcpad and Geobasemap software. All these maps will work on
a computer with GPS input, for real time position, or transfer
of
waypoints
and
tracks.
Maptrax digital maps are available in the world
chart standard BSB, as well as OZF2 (Oziexplorer) and FGX (Fugawi).
Please ask for other formats to
suit your application. For example, tif/tab files for Mapinfo,
and TIF/TFW files for Arcview.

- The "TRAX" viewer
includes two Australian maps and a 65,000 place database.
- TRAX includes a distance
measuring feature where distances can be measured in a
direct line or along a road or track.
- Maps can be printed from the viewer.
- The position of point of known "Lat/Long" can
be found using the "Locate point" feature.

 Includes
a "Hazards" file. The "Hazard file" is
provided in the interests of vehicle safety. It contains
the positions of known Red light Cameras, Fixed Radar Speed
Cameras, Steep descents (Steep Hills), and Bridges with
height restrictions. With a GPS receiver connected to the
laptop, entering a "hazard proximity" will display
the vehicle speed on the map, and sound a warning if a
sound card or buzzer is connected. - The "Hazards file" can be edited using a text
editor such as "Windows Notepad" to provide a
user defined database,- instructions are in the file.
- Digital mapping shown on the Trax
program cannot be loaded in to a Garmin GPS. Points located
on the digital maps by the cursor as a latitude/longitude,
can be manually keyed in to a Garmin GPS.

- "Trax" will
be supplied on the CDrom with any maps ordered (and
available through Johnny Appleseed GPS). Your maps can
be viewed without additional software. The user can link
the GPS receiver to the Laptop for a moving map display. "Trax" will
constantly indicate the vehicles position on the map, automatically
opening adjacent maps as required
- "Trax" will not
provide waypoints, route planning or track recording. A
customer requiring the additional features should look
at either:
1. moving map software systems such as Fugawi
3- both moving map and point and track management facilities.
or Oziexplorer- same
functions.
- or 2. Garmin Mapsource which
is available for point and track management facilities
on a mapped background, and moving map functions with a
GPS on a laptop.
