Sample Maps
Because the maps are primarily designed to be functional in GPS units
whose screen sizes range from 50mm, there are certain limitations.
1. The maps are completely scaleable (ie.
vector mapping). The detail remains in focus, regardless
of size or scale, and that is a benefit. The drawing
may seem simplified beacause roads and streets are only
shown as centrelines. But that can be one of the limitations
of vector mapping.
2. At very small scales, most detail and
annotation (street names, points of interest) is visible.
As the scale increases, some detail disappears, because
it would be impossible to retain it (for visual reasons)
on a small GPS screen.
3. Because of the scaleable function, it
is not possible to display a sample say, of the 50km
around Bendigo. It would show town locations, and highways,
but little detail or annotation, and would look nothing
like a typical road atlas.
4. Each Mapsource product is supplied on
a CD rom. Our samples have been taken from the computer,
and are in colour.
