GPS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT. MapSource Worldmap software allows you to view a color map of any area in the world, including Australia. This mapping is based on US Government 1:250,000 map data. All features stay in focus no matter what scale, so you can zoom down to a resolution of a few metres. You can easily zoom by rectangular window, or scale, or pan to a particular area in Australia, or any other land mass. When you have the desired area shown, with major roads, rivers, towns and highways, you can easily create waypoints with a click, ready for upload to the Garmin GPS. Or you can download waypoints, routes, and tracks from the Garmin, and they will be overlayed on the screen for direct comparison with existing information. REAL TIME MOVING MAP, and TIMING. Simply connect any Garmin GPS (by serial or USB cable depending on model) to your computer. Worldmap allows you to track the GPS position on the map, in real time (would normally require a laptop computer). Worldmap can also use GPS time to update the clock of your computer, or computer network. These facilities require a free download from Garmin's website.
FILE FUNCTIONS. Each set of map and data you use can be saved in its own file. Mapsource supports all the different datums and formats, so can be made compatible with your local sheet maps, and your GPS. With the zoom and pan functions and the ability to create waypoints, routes, and tracks, it is ideal for planning your next outdoor adventure, business trip, vacation, or recreational outing without ever leaving your house. The map of Melbourne shown here, is an example of the level of detail available on Worldmap. Clicking on the map creates a waypoint, or route, or measures single, trip or route distance. MapSource includes the trip and waypoint manager functions for transferring waypoints, routes and tracks between your PC and nearly all GARMIN GPS units.
The MapSource™ WorldMap CD-ROM provides coverage worldwide, with basemap-level detail, including political boundaries, cities, towns, major motorways and/or interstates, and principal highways; lakes, major streams, and rivers; and urban areas and railroads. WorldMap displays some coastline detail, including many offshore islands, as well as worldwide nautical navaids such as daybeacons, radiobeacons, RACONs, fog signals, lights, buoys, and other navaids.
Waypoint and route management functions are compatible with all GARMIN GPS systems except the GPS 100 family of products (GPS 100AVD, GPS 100MRN, GPS 100MIL, SRVY II) and panel mount aviation units.

The map loading feature of Mapsource allows users to also select individual maps in areas of interest and download the selected maps to a compatible GARMIN GPS. This map transfer feature is only compatible with the following GARMIN GPS units: eTrex Legend series, eTrex Vista series, GPSMAP 60 and 76 series, GPS III+, 12Map, NavTalk, GPSMAP 162/168/182 series, GPSMAP 172, 176, 276 and 296 series, StreetPilot series, iQue seires, GPSMAP 295, and eMap. Some of these GPS require a blank 32, 64, 128, or 256MB or larger Garmin cartridge, or CF, or SD card (depending on model) to upload map data to these compatible units.
