Johnny Appleseed G P S Order Information, Terms, Quotation and Privacy Policy, and Return Policy.

Payment:- Our on-line shopping cart accepts credit cards. For phone and mail orders, we accept all credit cards, personal and business cheques or bank drafts and cheques, insurance company cheques, postal money orders, cash, direct deposits to our bank account by internet transfer, and telegraphic transfers. We accept Government purchase orders. Our GITC number for Queensland is Q-2522. We also accept purchase orders from approved business and corporate customers. In our shops, we accept all payment methods.

Cost and Despatch:- We ship same day of order, more than 95% of the time. Freight is calculated by our on-line shopping cart facility. You can check the freight cost before finalising your purchase. Parcels to Defence personnel serving overseas are freight free via the AFPO 2890. Freight on phone orders is normally $12, for delivery anywhere in Australia. (For some small accessory items , between $4.40 and $7.70 will be sufficient- you will be advised at time of ordering). Local Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney deliveries $9.90 by Couriers Please.

Delivery Times in Australia:- To a street address, we ship OVERNIGHT to populous areas, by Australian Air Express (AAE), TNT Express or Express Post. Other destinations will be 2 days at most. These are our most popular methods, historically secure, manifested, but not insured. If you require insurance, AAE or TNT Express (usually overnight), or Insured Post (slower) are available. For local deliveries in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney, we use Couriers Please. In every case, method and cost can be agreed at time of ordering. Or you can nominate your own carrier freight-on.

Postal Addresses in Australia:- If you nominate a Post Office private box number, AAE, Post or Express Post will be used.

COD Insured:- Cash paid On Delivery. This is done through Australia Post, and is very popular. Simply order the goods (see below), and all charges including post and insurance, will be paid at your local Post Office at the time of collection. Because of the extra handling and paperwork at our end, we place a $5 surcharge on this service.

Insurance:- At your request, we are happy to insure your purchase in transit against loss, theft or damage. Otherwise the shipment is at the risk of the buyer, as soon as it leaves our shop. Historically, the loss of goods within Australia is less than a few points of 1%. But if you do not want to take the risk, please let us know that you prefer insurance, and we will calculate the cost. Insurance is available as an option on our on-line shopping facility. Insurance is automatically included on COD shipments.

Overseas:- We ship overseas by Airmail Insured, International Express mail (EMS) or TNT International Insured, or your nominated carrier freight-on. Price of goods will be an EXPORT price, and will NOT include Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST). Goods sent to Defence personnel serving overseas, are GST free, and are freight free via the AFPO 2890.

Layby:- 20% deposit, 3 months to pay. Layby may be cancelled at any time within one month, no fees, deposit refunded in full. If layby is cancelled after one month, deposit will be refunded less $25, or 3% of purchase price, whichever is greater. The article will be held for 3 months, in which time you can pay the balance. The original pricing at the time of lay-by will be maintained. This lay-by facility is good for mail order and in-shop purchases. Credit Card Fraud

Due to the widespread incidence of credit card fraud, we thoroughly check mail and on-line order delivery addresses. This ensures that you, the cardholder, is the person receiving the goods, and not some person who happens to have your credit card numbers. Our system requires confirmation of your delivery address from public records, such as a phone book. Please do not be offended - we do this to protect the cardholder's interests.

We encourage use of the American Express and Diners Club cards, because they have the proper facility in Australia to confirm billing and delivery addresses. .

Quotation Policy

We welcome phone, mail, fax or email requests for written quotations, from insurance companies and loss adjusters, corporations, businesses, government and semi-government bodies, councils, indigenous bodies and international agencies. We will be happy to supply written quotes to individuals for private use, if they mail, fax or email us a request with full details of contact and residential addresses. If the quote is for insurance purposes, please understand we will NOT quote inflated prices. We will quote our normal competitive retail prices, because anything else may be considered fraudulent. We will NOT send written quotes to individuals who phone us.

RETURN AND REFUND POLICY

As a retailer we are not obliged to accept return of goods purchased at our store, because you have decided not, or some circumstance means you are unable, to keep them. Please make your choice with this in mind. You need to pay the freight or postage costs when returning goods to our store. This policy and the following notes are in line with Government guidelines.

We can accept goods for return in the following circumstances, and then only if you have a valid receipt or other proof of purchase with this store:

1. The goods are materially defective. By definition, this is a fault in manufacture or defect in operation, unless you were informed of such fault or defect at time of purchase. This situation is covered by our warranty obligations, which means a refund will not be offered.

If discovery of the defect occurs within 30 days of purchase, we may offer a new item in exchange. The defect may require confirmation by our supplier, in which case an exchange may be delayed. Delays may also occur when we have to check or reverse, product registration, validation, locked or unlocked codes or activation codes for digital mapping or software.

If discovery of the defect occurs after 30 days from purchase, we will have the item repaired or replaced. Please be aware that warranty exchanges may take from a few days, to a month or more, depending on the supplier, and stock availability.

2. The goods were not as described to you by the sales person. You will need to have a careful record to prove this, and you need to contact us within 10 days of purchase.

3. You were offered a return acceptance within a particular time frame, by the sales person at the time of purchase. You will need to have a careful record to prove this, and the goods must be complete with all packaging and accessories, and in as-new condition.

4. You wish to upgrade to a more expensive model of the same brand-name, within 10 days, and only when the goods are complete with all packaging and accessories, and in as-new condition.

If we agree to accept goods for return, and the goods returned are not as supplied, or are not in as-new condition, we reserve the right to charge a re-stocking fee. This will generally be 10% of the purchase price, and the percentage will increase proportionally, further from the date of purchase. At our prerogative, any refund agreed upon, may be in a form other than cash or credit/debit card reversal, for example cheque or bank transfer.

Buying and Selling on eBay

Johnny Appleseed GPS is not listed as a seller on eBay. Persons buying GPS on eBay should satisfy themselves that the product is covered by an Australian warranty. We have discovered that many sellers advertise stolen goods, brand new, including portable in-car navigators. Be aware that manufacturers know by serial number what is stolen, and will lock out these units from normal map upgrades.

Information about you, our customer, is never passed on to any other person, or organisation. Where you ask us to unlock a Garmin mapping product on your behalf, your name and address, phone number and email address is passed on to Garmin in the USA.
Information which is secure within our business includes:
Name and Address, telephone and fax numbers, email address.
Credit card numbers and details, bank account and payment details.

(For security reasons, when you place a second or subsequent order by phone, we ask for credit card details again. We are unable to look up your previous purchase credit card records.)
