Tried and True

We have a few of these and they still work really well for NTP PPS sources. The 5Hz model isn't on the GPSd/Chrony supported list but it does work (provided you set the right poll options in the chrony conf). There are some better OEM devices out there (in terms of PPS accuracy), but none of them come in a waterproof case with a convenient cable.

Wrong item for my requirements

This is the Garmin Serial GPS , It does look to be a solid and potentially reliable pice of equipment however I did not expect the connection to be anything but laptop or pc compatible, it is possible there are other products from Garmin which will, but this will not plugin to your pc.

Pros: Solid and potentially reliable
Cons: do the research first this will not connect to your pc

Hi Stephen. This is an OEM unit, designed to be used with systems that require a serial GPS input. This unit will definitely work with a computer that supports a serial port/protocol. The user manual has detailed instructions on how to wire it up, and the NMEA sentences it supports. If you'd like to make contact with us, we can help you out.

Good value, great service/delivery

The product was at the right price for our client and the goods were in stock. The prompt service and delivery was exceptional and I've no doubt that Johnny Appleseed will be our first port of call in the future when we are looking to secure more items for our contracts.

Pros: the price - value for money
Cons: none
