  • 12-channel GPS receiver tracks and uses up to 12 satellites for fast, accurate positioning and low power consumption
  • Highly accurate measurement pulse output for precise timing measurements: one-pulse-per-second (1 Hz)
  • Waterproof design allows continuous exposure to the prevailing weather conditions
The GPS 18X LVC has bare wire for connection to a variety of applications. It can output data in NMEA 0183 format (industry standard) or proprietary Garmin format. The GPS 18X LVC provides a pulse-per-second logic-level output with a rising edge aligned to within 1 microsecond of UTC time.

The puck-like receiver is 2.4 inches in diameter and weighs just a few ounces, making it an ideal solution for applications where space is at a premium. The non-volatile memory does not require battery backup.

Configurable parameters include expected position, current time and date, and preferred position fix type (3D or Automatic).

I buy a lot of these and JA is the best place to buy them from.

An essential item

This device is used to provide precision timing & sensor site information for accurate earthquake location. The sub-millisecond 1PPS is used to timestamp seismic waveforms captured by sensor networks and digitised for analysis and triangulation with other sensors in the network. This robust unit will attach to steel surfaces with its integral magnetic base, which works just as well with a VHB double sided tape for other materials. It just needs an appropriate connector to be fitted to the leads.

Pros: 1 pulse per second output, NMEA 0183 data string & 5VDC operation
Cons: Cable entry to 'puk' is likely to fail if flexed excessively
