Rugged GPS/GLONASS Handheld with Two-way Radio

The Rino 700 is an affordable entry point to Garmin's navigator/communicator selection, suitable for activities such as hiking, hunting, climbing or paddling. It retains the core functionality of the more feature-rich Rino 750 and Rino 755t handhelds and its powerful two-way radio is fully compatible with them as well - making it easy to stay in touch with other Rino carrying members of your group.

Pinpoint Your Position

Featuring a high-sensitivity dual GPS/GLONASS receiver and quad-helix antenna, you can be sure to find your position and maintain it even in deep canyons, heavy cover or remote, off the grid locations. The Rino 700 comes with a worldwide basemap plus comprehensive navigation and tracking features to help guide you on or off the beaten path.

Find Your Friends

Rino series handhelds feature a unique position reporting capability that lets you send your exact location to another Rino user so they can see it on their map display. You can also use position polling to request a position from another Rino device. It’s a handy way to keep tabs on your friends, hunting party or fellow adventurers in the field. For added flexibility, you can also maintain nonverbal contact by exchanging unit-to-unit text messages with other Rino users in your area.

Easy To Read and Built Solid

Ruggedly built and water-rated to IPX7, Rino 700 features a crisp 2.2” monochrome display that’s easy to read in any lighting situation. Battery life can exceed 13 hours between recharges. Plus, the unit’s easy-to-use thumbstick control makes one-hand operation simple.

The Jury is Out - but for the doubt?

The Jury is out I initially started my Garmin Rino journey with a Garmin Rino 740 from another supplier. It was DOA. I could not get it to work. I returned it, exchanged for a second unit, also a Rino 750. Again, DOA. A dead screen. . I returned it and asked for a refund. Then I saw that the Garmin 700's were on offer for a very attractive price with this supplier. I ordered one, cautiously. When it arrived I charged accordingly. Unbelievably it was a DOA as well, same problem I had with the 750's. Screen lights up on charge, but then goes blank when unplugged and no response from any combination of buttons. I returned it, sent it back at my cost. I decided to try once more and asked the store to check it before sending me another unit. I charged it and it works. I am reluctant to use it without carrying a backup GPS, and a radio (when I need both). Because it has built in batteries if you plan to use it on a multi-day hike, you need to carry an auxilliary power pack or even solar charger. Once dead, without this you wont be able to recharge without power. Kind of means a battery powered radio and a standard GPS might be a better option. However for day trips where communications and knowing exactly where your party is (hunting, search & rescue, kids playing out and about), this might just work well. For now, the jury is out. I don't know how well I could rely on it as a means to communicate closely with my party in the thick stuff, with no visibility even at close distances of 30-100m. That doubt, means I'm unlikely to rely on it at all, and will likely continue to use my existing working technology. I plan to put it to the test in the field in a month or so. Until then I won't be leaving home with it - without another GPS and/or UHF Radio

Pros: The stated ability to have a 5W UHF radio, and GPS transmitter in one
Cons: Finally, after unit number 4, I got one that works

Hi Geoben, we have sold thousands of these and overall they have a very very low failure rate. Sorry you have been let down with this series, but hopefully this unit will last many many years to come without issue.

    Excellent entry level unit

A great little unit for the price. I work extensively in remote areas and this suits my needs perfectly. Good clear radio and easy to navigate menus. The only down side is you can’t load base maps and the one that is preloaded has limited detail. However, if you have custom tracks and routes these can be effectively uploaded to the onboard memory. I would certainly recommend this product.

Pros: Good size, powerful and easy to operate
Cons: Unable to load base maps, only tracks and waypoints

    Great device easy to use

Great pickup and go device. Only down side is the thumb toggle, would like it to be flatter as it tends to activate to easily but you can lock the keys and not loose data etc

Pros: Tough exterior Easy to use
    Cons: Thumb toggle
