Garmin zumo 390LM Tyre Pressure Monitor

Monitor Your Motorcycle's Tire Pressure Easily As You Ride

Wireless tyre pressure monitor sensor (TPMS).

Single wireless tyre pressure monitor to suit the Garmin zumo 390LM motorcycle GPS.
The system works with up to 4 tires in any configuration (not intended for automotive use). One TPMS sensor is required for each tire (sold separately; metal valve stems only).
Fasten 1 TPMS sensor to each metal tire valve stem, then pair TPMS with your zmo 390LM. View the real-time data right on your zumo display.
TPMS lets you set custom pressure thresholds. If tire pressure changes, TPMS issues an alert. TPMS also enables you to monitor tire pressure trends over time. With TPMS, it's possible to detect a slow leak before it becomes a bigger problem.
Each TPMS sensor is powered by a single, replaceable battery that may last up to 18 months, depending on individual use. To preserve battery life, TPMS rests in low-power mode, then "wakes up" when movement is detected.

Added Riding Safety

I have found the Garmin tyre pressure gauge to be of great benefit to check the tyre pressure at a glance for both the front and back tyres. It is extremely handy especially before starting the days riding. Garmin make it quite clear in the introduction for this product that it does not replace the riders responsibility to periodically manually check the tire pressure. My Garmin GPS with this added feature (app) has impressed a number of my riding buddy's.

Pros: Safety
Cons: None to date

A great way to monitor your tyres.

Easy to keep an eye on your tyres during long days on the bike. A bar graph can be checked to see how the pressures have gone through the ride.

Pros: Easy to check pressures. A warning screen displays when pressure get low
Cons: None as yet

Works really well. Great addition for my motorcycle

I had to change the valve stems to accommodate the monitors. Once this was done, I have found monitors to be excellent. I now feel I have peace of mind, as my rear tyre is very difficult to see.

Great device - works brilliantly

Accurate tyre pressure readings without having to carry around other tyre guages. I might be able to use garage pumps now instead of always pumping the tyres by hand

does exactly what it says

paired up to a zumo 390, seamless connection, accurate data and its good to be able to see trends in pressure so you can adjust the pressures you are running to avoid excessive heat which leads to wear.

Pros: easy to fit and pair
Cons: must not use with rubber valve stems, as directed

Could be much, much better

Lacks temperature compensation, should be calibrated to 20degC as with BMW unit, so reading is largely irrelavent from cold to hot tyres. Constantly looses comms and thus blocks GPS screen with fault message which is difficult to acknowledge with gloves on. Find myself having to disable TPM so I can use GPS without annoiance. If I knew then what I know now, I would NOT buy the TPM. TPM requires a serious up-spec.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: See above

Easy to set up & accurate.

Easy to use & accurate. Set up to my Zumo was very quick. Being connected to the Zumo, means one less device I need to find room for on the bike, to read the sensors. It uses a bit of an odd battery - at least out here in the country. Nobody stocks them. Easy enough to get sent to me though.

Cons: No locking screw

Great Product BUT

Garmin Tyre Pressure Monitor is everything that Garmin claims, ideal if your touring it makes it easy to keep an eye on tyre pressures. Here is the BUT I have a Husqvarna Nuda 900R, as soon as I got the TPS in the mail I had them on the Nuda and setup in less than 20 minutes. Find the right tyre pressure according the Nuda manual and the Perilli website took 10minutes. Less than 3 Kms down the road and the front TPS go whizzing passed me, on close inspection, I found that the tire stem had broken leaving the value sitting in the very bottom of the Tyre stem exposed. After ordering a replacement and having the front tire valve stem replaced the same thing happened. On reading the manual you MUST have steel tyre valve stems. Many street fighter, sports bikes have alloy valve stems these tend to break the TPS is just to heavy.

Pros: Easy the setup, makes it easy to keep a check on tyre pressure
Cons: Not for Street fighter, or sports bike with alloy valve stems.

Has a great safety potential but proved a distraction during a long trip.

Integrated easily with the Zumo GPS and setting were easy to adjust from the mobile App. Sensors frequently dis-connected and re-connected causing a loud warning tone which was a major distraction and very annoying. The warnings caused an interruption to any ongoing intercom conversation or GPS guidance.

Pros: Potential safety feature
Cons: Intermittent operation was very annoying.
