When the detector bar lights up the left side (toward the nail icon), there is a low gold chance, and the detector is likely to be picking up a metal object

2. Detect Modes

Gold Monster 1000 Sensitivity Chart Guide and Best Practice

A graph comparing the Gold Monster 1000's capabilities compares to other gold detectors *Detector sensitivity comparisons are representative only. Actual performance will depend upon nugget size, detector settings and ground conditions.

This gold detector finds the perfect balance in frequency sensitivity to help you find the best results for all gold nugget sizes.

When looking at the three curves in the example above, you can see that the detectors that operate at a lower frequency typically pickup larger nuggets only just below the surface. Higher frequency detectors are more sensitive to smaller gold nuggets. A detectors sensitivity to gold determines how many smaller nuggets will ultimately be recovered in difficult (noisy) ground at greater depths.

The Gold Monster 1000 detector uses an intermediate level frequency to obtain the best of both worlds for the frequency and depth detecting capabilities. It also uses auto-ground balance functionality to help quieten a lot of the noise found in Australia’s ground conditions. This helps you to zero in on the nugget much more effectively. The advantage of a mid-frequency detector with a high-speed 24-bit processor is that it dramatically boosts gold sensitivity. This boost goes beyond that of any other single frequency VLF detector, without introducing excess noise and false signals.

The GOLD MONSTER 1000 also has improved ferrous/non-ferrous discrimination and copes better with conductive (salty) soils than higher frequency detectors, making it the perfect choice to maximise your gold discovery.

The best way to set up your GM is to switch it on then using the left plus+/- control, turn the sensitivity up 6 bars. Then slowly pump the coil over the ground until the detector is quiet. From there sweep the coil in a controlled fashion and you will see a further quietening of the machine as the Auto ground balance averages the soil condition in your location. Once you’ve done this, you can dial the sensitivity up to Auto+ and proceed with your hunting adjusting to manual frequencies if you’re experienced enough and want to hone in on a particular find.
