PLB1

7 Year Battery Life, 7 Year Warranty

Operates globally, with no subscription fees or costs.

Wherever you are, at sea, on land, the rescueME PLB1 provides the reassurance that global emergency services can be alerted by the press of a button.
The rescueMe PLB1 can be operated with a single hand in even the most challenging situations. A simple spring loaded flap covers the activation button preventing inadvertent use.
It's waterproof to 15m, and includes a flotation pouch. The pouch is used to provide buoyancy, for even greater safety.

PLB1

Link Via Satellite to Emergency Services

With fast accurate positioning, and homing Beacon to aid final location by search and Rescue craft.

When activated the rescueME PLB1 transmits your position and your ID to a Rescue Coordination Center via satellite link. Rescue services nearest to your are promptly notified of your emergency and regularly advised of your current location to assist prompt rescue.
The satellite system is designed to locate your beacon using the transmission alone. The accuracy of this fix is approximately a 5 nautical mile radius, but is typically much better. The rescueME PLB1 has a built in GPS receiver which is used to encode the position in the transmission. When the GPS has a reliable fix, usually within a few minutes, the accuracy is typically within 100 metres of your actual position can be achieved.

Useless review ?

Being a PLB, how can I possibly know whether it works until I actually have an emergency ? Sure the self-test works, and the unit is simple to operate, but that is almost irrelevant.

Ideal for my needs

This device was easy to test and I believe it would be easy to use in an emergency. Rather than boating/fishing, I carry it with me when hiking. At times I am out of mobile range and walking solo so this compact, easy to carry device gives me the added security I need in case of an emergency.

Pros: Compact and easy to carry
Cons: none so far

Tiny but powerful

The best PLB is the one you have with you. This is so tiny, there is no excuse not to carry it. Comes with a soft protective pouch. I just did the beacon and GPS test. Easy. The AMSA registration is pleasingly comprehensive. Battery rated for 7 years..

Pros: So light and small
Cons: None that I cans see

Compact and peace of mind

Great little unit. I go on day surf trips overseas and the standard of safety equipment on many boat is typically very low, if I ever have to use this, elated for having with me will be an understatement.

Pros: Compact
Cons: None

Best money I have ever spent

When you buy a PLB you never know if it's going to work when you need it to and with the small size of RescueMe you always wonder if it has the same punch as the bigger ones. I was in a situation when I had to use this PLB and so I crossed my fingers, raised the antenna and pushed the red button and then waited. About 90 mins later the Ambulance service helicopter turned up and the injured person was safely transported to hospital. I later found out that within 15 minutes of me pushing the button my wife got the phone call. The area I was in was the Blue Mountains in a deep creek bed and I thought I would have to climb up to the ridge for it to work. After I pushed the button I noticed after a few minutes that the red flashing light was occasionally flashing green so I know my signal was getting through, that was a huge relive to know that. I highly recommend this PLB.

Pros: Size, weight and simple operation
Cons: None

Insanely small and light

Started doing more remote bushwalks and decided it was time for a PLB. Hard to pass on this PLB as it was so light and small I barely notice it in my pack. The battery lasts 7 years, so about $50 a year - pretty cheap insurance. Hope I never have to use it.

Pros: Small, light, easy to use, easy to attach to pack
